Australians have mastered the art of indoor outdoor living. We love a little alfresco, but when it comes to interiors, we aren’t afraid to push the boundaries and no decorating style is left untouched.

Satara Australia specialises in this Indoor Outdoor Living, supplying the Australian retail, designer and commercial markets with a diverse range of high quality, hand crafted, indoor and outdoor furniture and homewares.

Their ranges are inspired by natural materials and global trends, designed to enable their customer’s appreciation and enjoyment of our great Australian lifestyle.

They supply luxury, outdoor furniture, Scandinavian and resort-style indoor furniture, home storage and indoor/outdoor decoration products. A large number of their designs crossover between indoor and outdoor and can be used in both environments.

We took five with Andrew at Satara to chat further on the company’s history, the positives of working in the industry, inspirations and showcasing the new range at Furnitex, co-located with Decoration + Design in Melbourne from 18-21 July.

What’s the best part about working in the interiors/furniture/design industry?

We like the industry because it is never stagnant. The market expects new ideas all the time so you need to always be thinking creatively. It is a very global industry so travel is a key part of being involved.

What inspires you? How does this influence the design?

Our family are keen travelers and have been involved in the home renovation and building market over the years, so we get a lot of inspiration from amazing design around the globe.

Having a great climate in Australia enables us to make the most of indoor/outdoor living for a healthy family lifestyle and entertaining with friends, so we are always on the lookout for furniture and homewares that enable people to achieve this.

We also appreciate handmade products made from natural materials so this forms a large part of our inspiration.

What kind of materials do you source for your product range? Why?

The majority of our homewares products are made from natural sustainable materials such as Bamboo, Rattan and Willow. The majority of furniture is made from plantation teak and oak. Our ranges have a natural earthy feel about them.

Are you working on any special projects/ranges/collections at the moment?

We are always working on new collections including a large new range of indoor furniture including buffets, dining tables, entertainment units etc. We have some new Outdoor collections featuring combinations of teak, synthetic cord, aluminium and steel.

These new ranges will all be launched at Furnitex in July.

You are about to showcase at Furnitex, why did you choose this event? What can we expect to see when visiting your stand?

Furnitex provides a good opportunity to showcase our collections to retailers, designers and the commercial market.

Our stand will feature both an Indoor and outdoor section and will showcase everything from a Scandinavian inspired bedroom suite to furniture dining , outdoor entertaining and relaxing outdoor daybeds.
