With a rising demand from consumers for Australian-made product, fostering new local design talent has never been more important. Taking place as part of Decor + Design, VIVID Design Awards is the longest running competition for emerging designers in the country, with a stunning installation of the finalists always a highlight at the exhibition. It makes sense that iconic Australian brand Laminex is supporting the event as Principal Sponsor in 2021.

Laminex has been part of Australian life for more than 85 years – and their commitment to design, innovation and quality remains unwavering. Their curated collection of beautiful, hardwearing decorative surfaces is perfectly matched to a wide range of interior styles and applications.

New Collections Feature Warm Tones and Calming Hues

Laminex has just launched two collections of beautiful new decors, evoking the sense of balance we see in the natural world as an antidote to these most challenging times. “Living Pigments” comprises seven new solid-colour decors inspired by the warm tones of ochre, terracotta and sand, and the vegetal greens of plants and foliage, while “Calm Character” celebrates the textural beauty of marble, terrazzo and timber, with ten new tone-on-tone decors designed to sit harmoniously with other materials and finishes.

Supporting Australian Creativity and Design

Laminex has been inspiring architects and designers for decades, with colours and textures that capture emerging interior trends, and technologically advanced surface materials that allow the most ambitious of design concepts to become reality.

They regularly work with leading Australian talent, such as Melbourne architects Kennedy Nolan. They recently designed three contemporary spaces – two residential kitchens and a commercial space – that demonstrate the beauty and functionality of Laminex® laminate.

Kennedy Nolan are no strangers to working with laminate and for this project they were given full creative license to explore its innate design flexibility – how it can be formed into curves, cut into shapes and patterns and layered with other materials – across the extraordinary spectrum of colour and texture in the Laminex Colour Collection. The results are stunning, as can be seen above and in the feature image.

In turn, Laminex have a vested interest in supporting the next generation of Australian design:

“The boundless creativity of Australia’s design community has inspired Laminex to keep innovating, to keep striving for more. So it stands to reason that Laminex is supporting the next generation of creative practitioners, as principal partner to the VIVID 2021 awards for emerging and early career designers,” says says Sacha Leagh-Murray, General Manager Sales & Marketing.

VIVID Design Awards will take place at Decor + Design, 15 – 18 July at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. Entry to the exhibition is free but limited to trade visitors. Register now and plan your trip!
